OUR STORY

Cornerstone Siteworks was established in 2005, built upon a foundation of honesty, integrity and meticulous craftsmanship.  We understand that building any outdoor space begins with earning your trust. That’s why each member of our team serves as an integral part of the Cornerstone Siteworks family.  We're dedicated to quality work that's supported by the best experienced designers, subcontractors and vendors. These relationships ensure that our clients are treated with the same level of service, professionalism and craftsmanship that we’d expect to receive.

TAKING PAUSE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

A core focus of our work is on understanding and protecting our natural environment as it relates to each homeowner’s project – and the property.   Recommendations are made based on the best and most efficient way to protect your investment, as well as the environment.

Environmental site work often incorporates many variables including water and soil assessment, establishing proper drainage, run-off water management, and working alongside landscapers if necessary.  Factors that set us apart include:

  • An appreciation of the environment utilizing recyclable materials, both new and used
  • We go out of our way to separate materials that can be recycled
  • Ensure that we return water back into the ground water with drainage projects

Our team works together to create the most effective installation, designed to keep your space usable – and enjoyable for many years to come.

  • Precise Builders and Quality Craftsmanship
  • Value Environmental Aesthetics and Sustainability
  • Work with Professional Specialists
  • 15+ Years Construction and Landscaping Experience

JOHN SCHOLEFIELD  Founder

Born and raised in Virginia Beach, John grew up in the construction and landscaping business, learning all aspects of construction as it relates to outdoor living spaces.   He graduated from ODU, where he earned an undergraduate degree in biology and a minor in oceanography. His interests extended into botany, environmental sciences and plant physiology.  Always the “waterman” his passion for the outdoors continued to grow with further study into Virginia Beach waterways, conservation issues, wildlife preservation and the Chesapeake Bay.

John spent the first years of his professional career working in road construction, lawncare/ landscaping and with cell phone tower sites.  Much of the cell phone tower work required the use of large equipment and heavy machinery.  His understanding of large equipment, grading and soil/water movement would all become critical areas of expertise when helping others create “usable” outdoor spaces and opening his doors at Cornerstone Siteworks.

Today, John's focus is on building a great family at Cornerstone Siteworks.  Cornerstone Siteworks continues to have top-notch relationships not only with its team members, but with trade partners and suppliers.  Rest assure, each individual on your project will fit within the company culture of honesty, integrity and a desire to exceed your expectations.

VALUING EXPERTISE

Expertise is needed on multiple stages of each project. We begin with a close collaboration between a member of our Sitework Team and you, the homeowner.  Site analysis allows us to evaluate and incorporate your interests, while ensuring the site’s natural harmony with the environment.

Our Installation Team ensures proper installation based on the specific materials used.  Many of these individuals have been part of the Cornerstone family for years; some since the company’s inception.

Each step and detail of your project is important – from start to finish.
